David Lungaho's team showed some grit in their straight-set loss to Russia in the FIVB Volleyball Women's World Cup at the Yoyogi National Stadium on Monday
Tokyo, Japan, August 24, 2015 - Russia were challenged by Kenya but got through with a 3-1 win to continue their winning streak in the first round of the FIVB Volleyball Women's World Cup at the Yoyogi National Stadium on Monday.
Russia coach Yuri Marichev: "We used new players who have not played after the first set, but I also used the same starters because they always have to be ready. Kosheleva has not played serve and receive recently, so I wanted her to do it so she can play better."
Russia captain Ekaterina Kosianenko: "After yesterday's match it was important for us to win today. Our reception and serve were OK and I am happy for this."
Kenya coach David Lungaho: "Russia is a strong team. Our mission here is to play well and improve. We showed character in defeat today and we hope to win in the next matches.
Kenya captain Brackcides Khadambi: "We played really hard and we played well in spite of this loss."
