USA finish first round with 3-0 rout of Algeria

MATSUMOTO, Japan, August 27, 2015 – Reigning world champions the United States proved to be too strong for Algeria as they eased to a 3-0 (25-7, 25-2, 25-5) victory over the African runners-up here Thursday afternoon.

The American women finished their first round play with a 4-1 win-loss record, suffering their only defeat 3-2 against Serbia. Tetori Dixon led the United States with 16 points and Easy Megan added 12.

The world champions outblocked Algeria 17-0 and outserved them 8-0 with the Most Impressive Player award going to Kelsey Robinson, who had six kills, three blocks and ace.

Nadira Ait Oumghar had three points to lead the scoring of the Algerian women while they have yet to win a single set in five matches.
