USA beat Peru in straight sets

Matsumoto, Japan, August 26, 2015 – Reigning world champions the United States eased past Peru 3-0 here Wednesday afternoon for their second straight win at the 2015 FIVB Women’s World Cup.

With most of their regular starters rested, the American women had no difficulties claiming the 25-17, 25-15 and 25-12 win and improving to a 3-1 win-loss record. Following an opening 3-0 win over Algeria, Peru have now dropped three matches in a row without winning one set.

Tetori Dixon emerged as the top scorer of the USA with 14 points from nine kills, four blocks and one ace. Nicole Fawcett scored 12 and Kelsey Robinson and Lauren Gibbemeyer added eight apiece.

The Americans reaped 13 points from blocking, compared with 3 for Peru. Katherinne Olemar led Peru with seven points.
