Tomorrow won't be like other games, says coach Terzic

Komaki, Japan, September 5, 2015 – Serbia overcame Kenya 3-0 (25-11, 25-14, 25-19) in the FIVB Volleyball Women's World Cup at Park Arena Komaki on Saturday.

Serbia coach Zoran Terzic: "Congratulations to my team. That’s nine wins in a row and we have one more game against Argentina to finish in the right way and take a ticket for the Rio 2016 Olympic Games. Congratulations to the Kenyan team because every time we play against them they are better and better. I’m happy because they work in the right way and play better and better every time. Those kinds of games can be difficult from time to time; everyone expects that we will win very easily. Today’s game was interesting and Kenya played at a good level. I’m satisfied about how we played today and satisfied with the result."

On their adjustments for tomorrow's match against Argentina: "We don’t have time during a competition like the World Cup. We need to play it game by game. We need to think about the next game – nothing more, nothing less. But now the situation is a little different because we know that a win tomorrow means we are in Rio. So definitely it won’t be like the other games. We need only to think about this game tomorrow and we need to play like any other game."

En route to success: "There cannot only be one factor. You need to work a lot and you need to have quality players to face USA and Russia and China. Also, you need to have a very good organisation – I’m talking about the Serbian National Volleyball Federation. You need to make a mosaic if you want to win a big competition like the World Cup. We’ve played very well. After the first game, we won all the games and I really hope we do tomorrow. After yesterday, it’s clear we need to win to go to the Olympics. So we are very happy and satisfied for the team, the staff and all the people of Serbia because this is a big success for us. We won against the world champions USA and the European champions Russia and Japan, who finished third in the Olympics and the World Championship, so we’ve done a good job in this tournament."

Serbia captain Maja Ognjenovic: "I have to say that after yesterday’s match between Russia and USA we are glad we have a chance to go to the Olympics. I hope we will win against Argentina. Today’s match was easy and it was good opportunity to play with all 14 players. I hope we finish this tournament in the best way with our 10th win in a row. It will be a good result for us to take a medal and to go to the Olympics."

Kenya coach David Lungaho: Congratulations to Serbia. They played very well and we hope the best for them in their last match. We tried against Serbia but they are a good team. I’m happy with the few moments that we played very well. Sometimes the rallies lasted so long and when that happens when you play a team like Serbia, I think as a coach you become happy. For me, the most important thing is that we display our best and for the last match we also want to display our best and win if possible. For us, we’ve had a very good experience here and want to leave here with a lot of positives. Otherwise, I want to thank my players for their good efforts and I hope they give me the same tomorrow."

Kenya captain Brackcides Khadambi: "I would like to say congratulations to Serbia. Today, we really wanted to win and we played our best. Tomorrow is our last match and we want to continue playing our best and I know if we play well, we will win."
