Team unity is our key to victory, says Kwiek

Dominican Republic coach Marcos Kwiek led his team to a 3-1 victory over Argentina in the FIVB Volleyball Women's World Cup at the Yoyogi National Stadium on Monday

Tokyo, Japan, August 24, 2015 - Dominican Republic defeated Argentina in a 3-1 contest for their second consecutive victory in the first round of the FIVB Volleyball Women's World Cup at the Yoyogi National Stadium on Monday.

Dominican Republic coach Marcos Kwiek: "I'm happy for the victory and for the three points we earned in this match. We know each other's strengths and weaknesses because we play in the same region. A tournament like the World Cup is tough because we must play 11 matches in 15 days. We don't have much time to prepare but our unity in the team is the way we can overcome our opponents."

Dominican captain Prisilla Rivera Brens: "We are happy to win this match. We knew it would be tough to play against them, it always is, but we fought all the way."

Dominican player Gina Altagracia Mambru Casilla: "Our objective is to show a powerful performance in this match. We played well together. We are a small country with a big heart."

Argentina coach Guillermo Orduna: "I think the team played well today. We have many things to learn. It is good for us to have experience against a strong team. We must develop mentally, physically and technically."

Argentina captain Emilce Sosa: "Both teams played closely in the match but we couldn't play our usual game, just like the way we played yesterday. Dominican Republic is a strong team."

Argentina player Sol Piccolo: "We were not able to finish the match with a good result, but we did play well in the third set."
