Russia play for fourth victory

 

Head-to-head
·    Argentina and Russia will meet for the second time in the World Cup after a 3-1 win for Russia in 1999.
·    Their only other meeting at a major tournament came at the 2002 World Championship. Russia prevailed in straight sets.
·    Argentina are eyeing their first win over European sides in the World Cup as they failed to win in their previous nine. They failed to win a single set in the last seven.

·    Argentina have lost 35 World Cup matches. Of all CSV countries, only Peru (49) have lost more. Only Uruguay (0%) have a lower win rate among CSV countries than Argentina (16.67%).

·    Russia (including Soviet Union) have won 14 of their last 15 matches at the World Cup. Their only loss in that span came against Cuba (3-0) on 16 November 1999.
·    Russia have started this World Cup with three victories. They have always win their first four in a single World Cup since losing the second match in the 1989 edition.
·    Russia, including Soviet Union, have won more than 76% of their matches. Only China (80%) have won more World Cup matches.
