Peru seek redemption against Serbia

Head-to-head
· Peru and Serbia have met once before in the World Cup. In 2007, when Serbia made their World Cup debut, they beat Peru in straight sets.
· The teams also clashed at the 2010 World Championships, when Serbia defeated Peru 3-1 in the first round group stage.
· Peru have lost their last eight World Cup matches against CEV opponents, since a 3-0 win over Spain in the 1991 first round group stage.

Peru
· On Sunday, Peru suffered a straight sets defeat against Korea Republic, pegging them back after a 3-0 victory against Algeria on Saturday.
· The Peruvians missed a chance of registering back-to-back World Cup victories for the first time since 1989. They have lost nine of their last 10 in the competition.
· Against Korea, only five of their players recorded points, with none of them going into double figures.

Serbia
· Serbia recovered from a 3-1 defeat in their opener on Saturday by defeating the United States in five sets on Sunday.
· Serbia thereby cured a five set syndrome at the World Cup. They had lost each of their previous five matches that went the distance in this competition.
· Tijana Boskovic (23) and Brankica Mihajlovic (21) both scored more than 20 points against the United States. Each scored at least 16 spikes in that match.
