Marichev credits effort for victory, seeks consistency

 

Tokyo, Japan, August 22, 2015 – Russia took a straight-set victory over Dominican Republic to open their FIVB Volleyball Women’s World Cup campaign on a positive note at the Yoyogi National Stadium on Saturday.

Russia coach Yury Marichev: “Although we won 3-0, it was a tough match. We won with our effort. We would like to maintain our consistency throughout the tournament.”

Russia captain Ekaterina Kosanenko: “Our goal was to play like ourselves. We were able to follow our coach’s instructions. The team atmosphere was good and we helped each other.”

Russia player Nataliya Obmochaeva: “I agree with our captain’s comments. We played as a team and got a good result.”

Dominican Republic coach Marcos Kwiek: “I’m not happy to lose. This was a tough match. The tournament just started and it is a strong one. We are going to have to play harder.”

Dominican Republic captain Prisilla Rivera: “We knew it would be a tough match going in. They are tall and experienced. We did our best and will prepare for tomorrow.”

Dominican Republic player Elizabeth Martinez: “They were very tall and strong. We could not play our best. We must prepare for the next match.”
