Head-to-head
· This will be the third World Cup meeting between these nations. Peru won both previous matches in straight sets, in 1995 and 2007.
· They have already met twice at the 2015 World Grand Prix, with Peru winning 3-0 in the Preliminary Round and Kenya 3-1 in the Final Round.
· Their only other meeting in a major competition was at the 1998 World Championship, when Peru won 3-2.
Kenya
· After their first win in 31 matches against Algeria on 1 September, Kenya lost 3-0 to Korea Republic on Friday and 3-0 to Serbia on Saturday.
· Kenya have never won two matches in a single World Cup season. They also won one match in 1995, 3-0 against Egypt.
· With winning two of their 51 matches, they have a winning percentage of under 4%, which is lowest of all participating countries at the 2015 World Cup.
Peru
· Peru lost 3-1 against Cuba on Saturday, their ninth successive defeat. Their only win of the season came in their opening match when they beat Algeria 3-0.
· It is the first time they have lost nine successive World Cup matches. Their previous record was eight defeats in a row in 2007.
· Their next set victory will be their 90th in World Cup history.
