Okayama, Japan, August 30, 2015 – Argentina overcame Algeria 3-0 (25-11, 25-8, 25-11) in the first match of the second round of the FIVB Women’s World Cup at Momotaro Arena in Okayama on Sunday.
Argentina coach Guillermo Orduna: We played with good concentration today and didn’t make many errors. We tried our best. We knew we had to win today’s match but we had to think about how to win. I think the players did well. They need to be efficient in the way the play and they achieved that today.
Argentina captain Emilce Sosa: We’re very happy to win this match. We made good preparation and practice for today and the team is making good progress. But we still have some hard matches to play. Tomorrow (against USA) will be a tough match; they always are against USA. I think we shouldn’t worry too much about the result but just play our best.
Algeria coach Henni Abdelhalim: Before this match, we hoped we could play better, but I think we made more errors on reception and service compared to our last match in Matsumoto. It’s very hard for us to play with players who are having a tough time psychologically.
Algeria captain Silya Magnana: We don’t forget that our first objective is to gain experience. We want to play better and better every day, but it is very difficult for us.
