China seek to continue win-streak against African sides

 

Head-to-head
· China and Algeria have met once in the World Cup. In 2011, China defeated Algeria in straight sets.
· China have never lost a single set against any CAVB country in a major international tournament. All 11 encounters were won in straight sets.
· Algeria is the CAVB country which came closest to win a set against China as they claimed 19 points in the third set in their 2011 encounter at the World Cup.
· No other AVC country other than Australia have lost a single match against a CAVB country in a major international tournament. Algeria won two of the in total five wins.

China
· China beat Serbia 3-1 in their opening match of the 2015 World Cup.
· China have now won at least two sets in each of their last 24 matches at the World Cup, a streak that started in 1999.
· China have lost three of their last 24 World Cup matches, all in five sets. They have lost three of their last four matches going to five sets after winning their first seven five-setters in the competition.
· Ting Zhu scored a match-high 24 points in China's match against Serbia. Six of those points were scored from blocks.

Algeria
· Algeria failed to win a set in their 2015 World Cup opener against Peru (3-0 defeat).
· They have won one of their 12 World Cup matches so far, a 3-1 win against Kenya in 2011.
· Algeria can become the first African country with multiple wins in the World Cup. Kenya can also achieve this feat on Sunday.
· Kasri Melissa (12 points) was the only Algerian player reaching double figures in their match against Peru.
