The Queens of the Caribbean had a disappointing campaign at the 2015 World Grand Prix. They finished bottom of Group 1 after losing each of their nine matches, failing to win a set in the process. At the Pan American Games in July, they recovered to take the bronze medal after a win over Puerto Rico. They qualified for their fourth consecutive World Cup by winning the NORCECA Final Four Cup in July. In their debut tournament in 2003 they finished 10th and followed up with ninth place in 2007. Five wins from 11 matches in the 2011 tournament earned them eighth place. At the World Championship in 2014, Dominican Republic reached the third round in Milan but lost to Brazil and China. They ended the tournament in joint-fifth place.
At the 2012 Olympic Games they managed to progress through the group stage before being defeated in the quarterfinals by eventual silver medallists USA. Building on that performance, they made their way through the first two group stages at the 2014 World Championships but a 3-2 defeat by China in the third group stage denied them a place in the semifinal. They have appeared in every edition of the World Grand Prix since 2004. Their best finish in the event was eighth in 2006 and 2010.
