Yuki leads Japan past Algeria in straight sets

Nagoya, Japan, September 4, 2015 – Yuki Ishii had 10 kills and three aces Friday evening at the Nippongaishi Hall to lead the hosts Japan past winless Algeria 3-0 (25-8, 25-10, 25-6) for their seventh victory on the opening day of the third round FIVB women’s World Cup play.

Bouncing back Tuesday’s full-set loss to Serbia, the Japanese team produced 11 aces on way to the victory and improved to a 7-2 win-loss record in the 12-team round robin tournament.

Saori Sakoda and Riho Ohtake added nine and seven points to Japan’s victory and the Most Impressive Player award went to Japanese libero Mio Sato.

Nadira Ait Oumghar was the top scorer of Algeria with six while her team has failed to win one set in their nine consecutive losses.
