We were able to play as planned: China's Yang Junjing

Okayama, Japan, August 30, 2015 – China triumphed over Cuba 3-0 (25-19, 25-10, 25-14) in the second round of the FIVB Women’s World Cup at Momotaro Arena in Okayama on Sunday.

China coach Lang Ping: We prepared well for today’s game and I think things went well. Cuba have young players and you can see that they are growing and becoming better players. For us, the most important thing is to play the way we want to, and I think we have been able to see good results from our training. The World Cup runs over a long time so we knew things would be tough and various things could happen. We have an injured player (Zhu Ting) and we just have to deal with that. Our other players must compensate for her absence.

China captain Zeng Chunlei: We’re very happy with our win today. We played quite good and our blocking was particularly good. We got good results from our practice, especially on the blocking. I think the team is becoming more stable but we still have work to do in order to show our full capabilities. Every time we play a different team, we need to grow and learn. When issues arise, we just have to address them and try to play our best in each match.

China No. 6 Yang Junjing: We’re happy to win today. Our teamwork was good and we were able to play as planned with good teamwork. During practice, we got a lot of guidance from our coach about blocking and that went really well. In the World Cup, we have 11 matches so we know we will have some tough times, but we have to keep going. The most important thing is to put into practice what we do in training and play our own game.

Cuba coach Roberto Garcia: China are one of the top teams in the world. Today, from the middle of the second set, things didn’t go according to plan. China play very fast and we found that difficult to handle. But it was a good experience for us.

Cuba captain Sulian Matienzo: China is a really good team and they don’t make many mistakes. And today, their blocking was very good. Even though we lost today, I want to congratulate China for their win.
