We have to use mental strength to overcome tough losses, says Marichev

Yury Marichev allowed his top spiker Nataliya Obmochaeva to rest for the match against Peru but his team still topped Peru in straight sets in the FIVB Volleyball Women's World Cup at the Sendai Gymnasium on Tuesday

Sendai, Japan, September 1, 2015 - Russia ruled Peru 3-0 in the second round of the FIVB Volleyball Women's World Cup at the Sendai Gymnasium on Tuesday.

Russia coach Yury Marichev: "Our challenge today was to use players that have not played much in the tournament. (Nataliya) Obmochaeva was rested so she can have two days off before we practice on the third day in Nagoya. It's good for her. We lost last night and every team must face such difficult defeats. We have to use mental strength to overcome them."

Russia captain Ekaterina Kosianenko: "Our challenge today was to find what we needed to do to win after losing last night. We have found our way again after losing. We have to keep going."

Peru coach Mauro Marasciulo: "As I expected it was a tough match for us. They have strong attack. We did not have enough substitute players. I rested some starters because everybody is exhausted. We want to play better for the rest of the tournament."

Peru captain Mirtha Uribe: "We didn't play well in the first two sets. We played our style in the third set and received better. We want to play like that going forward."
