Head-to-head
· This will be the fourth meeting between these countries at the World Cup. United States have won all three previous meetings. Two of these came in straight sets.
· They have met twice at the Olympic Games. In 2004, Dominican Republic won 3-2 (group stage) and in 2012 United States won 3-0 in the quarterfinals.

Dominican Republic
· Dominican Republic won 3-0 against Algeria on Saturday. It was their first 3-0 victory since beating Kenya 3-0 on 23 August.
· They have never won back-to-back World Cup matches by 3-0.
· They are three sets away from conceding their 100th in the World Cup.
United States
· United States will qualify for the Olympic Games if one of these scenarios take place:
· 1) A win by 3-0 or 3-1 and Serbia or China lose.
· 2) A win by 3-2 and Serbia lose and Russia do not win by 3-0 or 3-1.
· 3) A win by 3-2 and China lose by 3-0 or 3-1 and Russia do not win by 3-0 or 3-1.
· They have qualified for the Olympic Games in each of the last three World Cups (2003, 2007 and 2011).
· United States have won 199 sets in the World Cup and can become the fourth team to win 200 sets following Japan, China and Cuba.
