USA continue to lead the women's volleyball world ranking

Lausanne, Switzerland, September 10, 2015 – Women’s world champions USA remain top of the FIVB Volleyball Women’s World Rankings following the completion of the FIVB Volleyball Women’s World Cup where they finished third.

FIVB Senior World Ranking - Women

Karch Kiraly’s team, which recently added the FIVB Volleyball Women’s World Grand Prix gold to their World Championship title lead an unchanged top three, ahead of Brazil and China.

China increased their points to 298 after topping the World Cup standings, Brazil remain on 302 points, but they are now closer to the USA who have dropped from 360 points to 350 points since August.

China’s success ensured that they will be competing at the Rio de Janeiro 2016 Olympic Games, along with Serbia who finished in second place.

The East Europeans’ success means that they rise from eighth to sixth in the standings, along with Russia who move up to fourth and the pair sandwich Japan who stay in fifth-place.

Note on points attribution
In May 2015, the FIVB Board of Administration approved the proposal that if the team hosting the Olympic Games has participated in a previous World Cup, then they will keep the world ranking points gained at that World Cup.
