Pasynkova-led Russia sweep Algeria to finish 9-2 at World Cup

 

A brilliant save of Russia!

Nagoya, Japan, September 6, 2005 – Alexandra Pasynkova had game-high 16 points to lead Russia sweep Algeria 3-0 (25-6, 25-6, 25-8) here Sunday afternoon in a third round match of the 2015 FIVB Women’s World Cup.

In the absence of top scorers Tatiana Kosheleva, Nataliya Obmochaeva, Aasynkova had 12 kills, two blocks and two aces as the Russian women finished with a 9-2 record in the 12-team round robin tournament.

Following a disappointing 3-0 defeat to China on Saturday, Russia recovered soon enough to outblock Algeria 12-1 and produce 10 aces on way to their victory. Natalia Malykh and Irina Fetisova added 15 and 14 points respectively.

Algeria finished at bottom of this World Cup after dropping all 11 matches without winning a single set.
