YonKaira Paola Pena Isabel spikes against Algeria.
Nagoya, Japan, September 5, 2015 - The Dominican Republic defeated Algeria 3-0 on Saturday and coach Marcos Kwiek said the opponents are building up their program by playing in the World Cup.
Dominican Republic coach Marcos Kwiek: It is tough to comment on a match like this. There are programs at different levels. Some 25 years ago the Dominican Republic made efforts to improve volleyball. The Algerians team is like this now. They have done their best here and will continue to improve. Tomorrow we will play and important game (against USA). We know each other well because we are in the same confederation. I think if we play to the maximum of our potential we can win.
Algeria coach Henni Abdelhalim: The Dominican Republic is a good team. They have won five games here. This is a good experience for our team. We will never forget it. This is good motivation for us.
Domincan Republic captain Prisilla Rivera: We are happy to get three more points to keep our current position. Tomorrow will be a tough match. The USA is our rival in the North American region.
Algeria captain Silya Magnana: We played against a good adversary. They had a high block and spike and it was difficult for us. We will try to give a better performance in the future.
Algeria player Nawel Hammouche: We played against a good team and it was tough to play against them.
