·    Cuba leads United States with five wins to three in their previous World Cup meetings.
·    Cuba won five of the first six encounters with United States in the competition (1973-1999), but the Americans prevailed in the last two - 3-0 in 2003 and 3-2 in 2007.
·    Their last meeting at a major international tournament came at the 2013 NORCECA Championship with United States winning in straight sets in the group stage.
·    These teams battled for a place in the gold medal match of the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games. United States beat Cuba 3-0, but lost the final 3-1 to Brazil. Cuba failed to grab the bronze against China (3-1).

·    Their two wins this World Cup both came against African sides, Algeria and Kenya.
·    Sulian Caridad Matienzo Linares scored 18 points against Algeria. She led her team in points from spikes, blocks (joint) and serves.

United States
·    United States have won their last five World Cup matches, all in straight sets. They can win six in a row at a single World Cup edition for the first time since a seven-match winning streak in 2007.
·    All their six wins at the 2015 World Cup have been by a 3-0 score line, including their last five matches. This is already a team record.
·    USA had four players scoring double figures against Algeria on Monday, while they benefitted from only seven errors of the Argentineans.
·    USA only dropped sets in their 3-2 defeat against Serbia.
